A person, apparently military, doing a bit of man ual sampling on a vacuum world's surface.  Although the sampling probe/walking stick they are carrying would normally be adequate to do any sort of standard detection, sometimes you just have to get down and put your (armor-plated, hermetically-sealed) finger in the dust.  I'm not quite sure why the person has a gauss rifle strapped to their back -- perhaps they are on a military recon mission, or just doing exploration in a hostile area.  Also note the short-range vacuum hopper in the background.
